Jeanne Lucas - Music Director
Jeanne grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Putnam City North High School. She has a Bachelor of Music Education from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Oklahoma. Jeanne has had a great deal of success building choir programs throughout Kansas and Oklahoma. She is currently the choir director at Alcott Middle School in Norman, OK. She has worked previously in music ministry as the children’s music director at First Presbyterian Church in Norman, OK and the youth music director at New Covenant Christian Church in Oklahoma City, OK. Jeanne has assisted in worship in several denominations throughout Kansas and Oklahoma and is very excited for the opportunity to serve at First United Methodist Church here in Blanchard.
Jeanne’s Choral Singing Experience includes; the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Stillwater Chamber Singers, Canterbury Choral Society, and the Zellinski Singers. She has also performed with a number of choirs and community theaters in Kansas and Oklahoma. Roles she has played include “Marian” in The Music Man, “Johanna” in Sweeney Todd, and “Aggravain” in Once Upon a Matress.
Jeanne has been a clinician for the Texas Music Educator’s Association Convention, the Oklahoma Music Educator’s Association Convention and the Collegiate Oklahoma Music Educoator’s Association. She has been the featured director for the Northern Choral Director’s association in Tulsa, OK and the Broken Arrow All City Choir Concert in Broken Arrow, OK.
Jeanne’s husband, Mark is an assistant professor of Choral Music and Music Education at the University of Oklahoma. He is also the choir director at NorthHaven Church in Norman, OK. Mark and Jeanne have two children; Matthew (age 8) and Jacob (age 7)
